Laser Genesis Melbourne
Face by Alex Pike offers Laser Genesis at our professional skin clinic in Melbourne. This non-ablative laser treatment uses controlled energy to address selected concerns involving skin tone, texture and appearance.
Every treatment begins with an individual skin assessment. Your practitioner will consider your skin type, medical history, current medications, previous procedures and treatment goals before advising whether Laser Genesis or Green Genesis may be appropriate.

What Is Laser Genesis?
Laser Genesis is a non-ablative laser skin rejuvenation treatment that uses a 1064 nm wavelength. The device delivers controlled heat to the dermis and is designed to support collagen remodelling without removing the skin’s surface.
A Laser Genesis facial may be considered for selected concerns involving:
- Uneven-looking skin tone or texture
- Fine lines
- Visible facial redness
- The appearance of certain scars
- Enlarged or noticeable pores
- General skin revitalisation
Laser Genesis is not suitable for every person or every skin concern. The expected response, recommended number of sessions and recovery experience vary between individuals. No particular result can be guaranteed.
How Does a Genesis Laser Treatment Work?
During treatment, the Genesis Laser delivers controlled energy into the skin. Clients commonly describe a gradual warming sensation as the handpiece moves across the treatment area.
The energy is intended to heat selected tissue beneath the surface while leaving the outer layer intact. This is why Laser Genesis is described as non-ablative. It differs from resurfacing procedures that intentionally remove or disrupt the skin’s outer layers.
Following treatment, some clients may experience temporary warmth, redness, swelling or sensitivity. Less common adverse effects can include changes in pigmentation, blistering, burns, textural changes or scarring. Your practitioner will explain the risks relevant to you before treatment.
Laser Genesis and Green Genesis
Laser Genesis and Green Genesis use different wavelengths and interact with different targets in the skin.
Standard Laser Genesis uses a 1064 nm wavelength and delivers controlled dermal heating. Green Genesis uses a shorter 532 nm wavelength, which interacts more superficially with selected vascular and pigment targets.
Green Genesis may be considered for suitable clients concerned about the appearance of superficial redness, uneven pigmentation or sun-related changes. It is not appropriate for every skin type or pigment concern. Particular care is required when assessing darker skin types, melasma, hormonally influenced pigmentation and recently tanned skin.
Your practitioner will determine whether Laser Genesis, Green Genesis, another treatment or no treatment is appropriate. Treatment should not be selected solely on the basis of a visible concern without a professional assessment.
What Happens During a Laser Genesis Facial?
Before your appointment, you will receive preparation instructions based on your skin and planned treatment. You may be advised to avoid tanning, excessive sun exposure or certain skincare ingredients.
At the appointment, your skin will be cleansed and appropriate eye protection will be provided. Treatment settings will be selected according to your assessment. The duration of the appointment depends on the area being treated and your individual plan.
Significant downtime is not generally expected after Laser Genesis, but temporary reactions can occur. You may notice warmth, redness or mild sensitivity. With Green Genesis, some clients may experience a sharper or snapping sensation during treatment and more visible temporary changes afterwards.
Follow the aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner. These may include gentle skincare, daily sun protection and temporarily avoiding heat, strenuous exercise or active skincare ingredients.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The recommended number and timing of treatments depend on your skin, concern and response. Some clients may be advised to complete a series of appointments, while others may require a different treatment approach.
Improvements, where they occur, may develop gradually. Maintenance appointments may be discussed, but the duration of any result varies according to factors including the concern treated, individual skin response, sun exposure, skincare and lifestyle.
Your treatment plan will be reviewed over time and may be adjusted according to your progress.
Who May Not Be Suitable?
Laser treatment may need to be postponed or avoided for some people. Factors affecting suitability can include:
- Pregnancy
- Recent tanning or significant sun exposure
- Open wounds or active skin infections
- Suspicious or undiagnosed skin lesions
- Certain medications, including photosensitising medicines
- A history of abnormal scarring or pigment changes
- Some medical conditions
- Tattoos or permanent makeup in the treatment area
- Previous reactions to laser treatment
This is not a complete list. Provide accurate information about your health, medications and previous procedures during your consultation.
Personalised Laser Skin Rejuvenation
Laser skin rejuvenation should not be based on a standard formula. Skin type, natural variation, concern severity and personal preferences all influence treatment planning.
At Face by Alex Pike, our approach is designed to support informed choices and realistic expectations. If you prefer subtle, natural-looking results, your practitioner can consider this when developing your plan. However, individual responses vary, and treatment cannot promise a particular appearance.
Laser Genesis may also form part of a broader skin program where clinically appropriate. Any combination of advanced treatments should be planned carefully to allow suitable recovery between appointments.
